রাজীব গান্ধীর মূল্যবান কিছু বাণী

মাত্র ৪০ বছর বয়সে দেশের কনিষ্ঠতম প্রধানমন্ত্রী। রাজীব গান্ধী; ইন্দিরা গান্ধী ও ফিরোজ গান্ধীর পুত্র। রাজনৈতিক পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করলেও রাজনীতিতে যোগদানের কোনও ইচ্ছেই ছিলো না। মন ছিলো আকাশের মতো, তাই আকাশেই উড়তে ভালোবাসতেন। বিদেশে পড়াশুনো শেষ করে দেশে ফিরে ইন্ডিয়ান এয়ারলাইন্সের পাইলট হিসেবে পেশাদার জীবন শুরু করেন। কিন্তু ১৯৮৪ সালের ৩১ অক্টোবর সব হিসাব গোলমাল হয়ে যায়। আততায়ীর গুলিতে নিহত হন তাঁর মা তথা দেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী ইন্দিরা গান্ধী। তার আগেই অবশ্য ভাই সঞ্জয়ের মৃত্যু হয়েছে এবং রাজনীতিতে আসতে বাধ্য হয়েছেন রাজীব গান্ধী। মা ইন্দিরা গান্ধীকে যখন গুলি করা হয় তখন রাজীব ছিলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গেরই মেদিনীপুর জেলার কাঁথিতে, একটি জনসভায় বক্তৃতা দিচ্ছিলেন তিনি। দুঃসংবাদ শুনে সোজা ফিরে যান দিল্লি। ইন্দিরা তখন প্রয়াত।

১৯৮৪ সালে ৪১১টি লোকসভা কেন্দ্রে রেকর্ড গড়ে কংগ্রেস জয়লাভ করে। প্রধানমন্ত্রী হন রাজীব গান্ধী। ১৯৮৯ পর্যন্ত ৫ বছর সরকার চালান। তাঁর সময়ে ভারতবর্ষের রাজনীতিতে বিভিন্ন দোলাচলের সৃষ্টি হয়। সোজা কথা খুব একটা মসৃণ ছিল না রাজীবের পথ চলা। তারই মাঝে শ্যাম পিত্রোদাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে ভারতে কম্পিউটার নিয়ে আসেন তিনি। এক্ষেত্রেও সমালোচনার ঝড় বয়ে যায় মানব সম্পদ নষ্ট হবে বলে। কিন্তু ভবিষ্যৎই বলে দিয়েছে কতখানি সুদূরপ্রসারী ছিলো রাজীব গান্ধীর চিন্তাভাবনা। ক্রেতা সুরক্ষা আইনও তাঁর সময়ে প্রচলিত হয়। মহিলাদের প্রতি ছিলো তাঁর গভীর শ্রদ্ধা। শিশুদের ভালোবাসতেন। যুব সমাজের জাগরণে বিশ্বাস করতেন। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা ছিলো এক উদার মন, যা তাঁকে রাজনীতিক থেকে স্টেটসম্যানে পরিণত করে। রাজনীতির থেকে উন্নয়নের দিকেই জোর ছিলো তাঁর। তাই হয়তো ভোটে হারতে হয়েছিলো কিন্তু সকলের হৃদয়ে তাঁর স্থান চিরস্থায়ী। আন্তর্জাতিক বিভিন্ন সমস্যায় ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়তেন তিনি। তারই প্রতিদানে বলা যায় মানব বোমা বিস্ফোরণে মৃত্যু হয় তাঁর।
